Your Pet's Surgery at Countryside Veterinary Hospital

Surgery with Dr. WoodOur veterinarians are trained, skilled and experienced surgeons. They approach this important aspect of their profession with a deep sense of compassion for all animals. Countryside Veterinary Hospital provides procedures for canines, felines, avian and exotic pets.

We understand that the decision to allow your beloved companion to undergo surgery is never an easy one and because of that we strive to ensure your pet's procedure is comfortable and stress free (for you as well).

Perhaps the most important pre-surgical step we take is to discuss with you why we believe a particular procedure is necessary and what it entails. We also provide information on proper postoperative care and answer any questions you may have so that you feel comfortable knowing you are making the right choice for your pet.

We believe it is in your best interest to offer as wide an array of surgical services at our facility as possible. It is important for you and your pet to receive care in a friendly and welcoming facility from people you both have come to know in order to reduce stress and promote healing.

Countryside Veterinary Hospital has warming blankets and incubators to ensure body temperature is maintained during all procedures. We also utilize intraoperative IV fluids for most patients in order to maintain the highest level of care and safety.

Anesthesia and monitoring for pet surgeriesAnesthesia

At Countryside Veterinary Hospital, we use the most current anesthesia monitoring technology available. Our monitoring is performed by highly trained licensed veterinary technicians, who use their education and experience to keep every pet safe. Trained in the use and interpretation of monitor data and patient vital signs, our technicians have the knowledge of how to respond to any changes.

We monitor heart, oxygen, body emperature and blood pressure.

We currently use Isoflurane anesthesia for surgical procedures, but we do offer special anesthetics for various breed risks such as propofol for brachycephalic dogs and other medications for cardiac/respiratory compromised patients. Each choice is carefully considered and employed on a per-patient basis.

An anesthesia record is kept for each pet and records the surgical and anesthetic time as well as vital signs and other significant data throughout each procedure.

Every pet is individually evaluated to determine potential pain responses and is given customized pre-surgical, intraoperative and post-operative pain medications as well as medications to go home as their individual circumstances dictate.

At Countryside Veterinary Hospital, pain control is not merely an option, it is a standard of care which we are proud to stand behind.
